Many reviews talk about it being "sketchy area"... the hotel is located at the edge of the african/ muslim district. So, a lot of non-white people being their own culture. This is not sketchy. Once you realise the hotel is located in a residential district, not a tourist/hotel district, it all starts to make sense. Walk one direction and you get to the heart of African food, shops and people. Walk the other direction and you get to the bengali area. Bengali (indian) food, shops. Or just around the corner the main high street is full of usual commercial shops you find in any other town or city. If you are scared of culture, anyone not-white or Halal food, then maybe area not for you. But if you don't mind seeing real paris and great cultural food this is a fine location. (There actually are cafes and bars with white people nearby!) Some reviews mention men standing outside hotel at night? That's just the African culture. (See photos) You'll find them anywhere socialising outside their homes. They're not peddling drugs or crime. They're not being scary and nothing to worry about. (I've been to Africa, and it was just the same). Admittedly the area could be cleaner but it's not an issue because 95% of the time You'll be visiting tourist paris, not walking to/from hotel. Hopefully this will put your mind to rest. Low cost hotel in low cost location. Simple. Right between two metro stops (4 mins walk to each) which go all directions to all the main sites and areas. €2.10 for any single journey to anywhere in paris. Perfect. 15 mins walk to the beautiful romantic area of Montmartre which has stunning views all around and also Sacré Coeur. 20 mins walk from the main train station- gard nord and gard est. Also be sure to walk towards "gard est" train station if you want the main road with all the amazing restaurants!! I totally missed this until the last day. Devastated. So about the hotel- like everyone says Hotel rooms are in need of TLC, room is tiny, no lifts just a long tight spiral staircase. Bathroom is small and shower cubicle tight. Basic room & facilities. --essentially room is simple and functional. But clean and tidy. Sheets are all clean and frrsh. May need to ask for extra pillows though. BUT all that is completely made up by the amazing caring staff. Reception staff, cleaners, caterers. All really lovely, and you can tell it's because the management genuinely cares about everyone. Both their own staff and the customers. Breakfast is actually lovely and filling each day. The manager even offered us extra breakfast food to take along with us for the trip when we mentioned our long day out we planned. Honestly cannot fault the staff at all :) I booked this place solely on one other persons honest straight forward review, and actually they turned out to be completely correct. So I have to do the same! This is a totally acceptable place to stay for friends or adventurous couples as a base for 2-3 nights while visiting Paris.

Room size of a prison cell, dirty bathroom, no kettle, very poor breakfast, no cleaning except emptying rubbish, no fresh towels for 5 days, lack of toilet paper. Also it's not a hotels fault but it's a very bad district with smelly, dirty streets and it gets scary when dark. Worst hotel I ever been to and wouldn't recommend to anyone even enemy.

My partner and I booked this hotel for our short holiday to Paris. We arrived and from our walk to the hotel from the metro station what we saw was dirty and not inviting at all. There was rubbish all over the streets. We arrived at the hotel and had one hour to wait until check in which was fine. I went to use the toilet in the breakfast area, I nearly had to straddle the toilet to get in, there was no toilet paper, no soap and no towel which is not up to even basic standards. What we saw of the breakfast area was dirty and it was dark and small. The area to eat breakfast was again small (about 3 tables for everyone). We were told when booking that there would be somewhere to securely put our luggage before check in and after check out. The secure location was in the corner of the communal seating area (also the 3 tables of the breakfast seating area) so anyone could access our luggage and take from our bags. Although we were not very comfortable with this and did not feel welcomed by the external environment we decided to go get baguettes and eat them in the local park. We walked through the park which had security guards throughout and again felt very unwelcome as we were being watched. We walked through the park and decided to sit in the children’s play area as this felt the safest for us to eat. When we sat down we could smell someone smoking weed the other side of the fence. The security guard then asked us to leave the child’s area as it is not for people without children. Which did not help the situation. For anyone on holiday this environment was not nice particularly in the winter months where it is dark much of the time. We left the park and told the hotel we did not want to stay at the hotel and had booked another. We had to book one hotel for that night and another one for the next 3. We had to spend much of our holiday running around Paris with suitcases. We were told by the receptionist that the manager would be back in an hour who could deal with our complaint and give a refund. I was told to email with a list of my issues and return to discuss with the manager. I did so but advised we would not be returning to waste any more of our trip and time. I received a response the next day stating that the external environment was not their responsibility and ignoring all of my previous issues identified and that was that. I immediately replied explaining all of the above and I have sent a follow up email as I am yet to receive a response to my email over a week ago!!! Do not visit this hotel. Everything was so awful we refused to even see the room and we have now spent over £400 in hotels and the £230 we paid is being refused to be refunded even though we have not used ANY of the services or products or even seen our room!
